Terms and Conditions

Last Updated: [Month Day, 2026]

Welcome to the website of the American College of Hyperbaric Medicine (“ACHM,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of ACHM.org and the information, resources, applications, member features, educational materials, and other content made available through the website.

By accessing or using this website, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the website.

About ACHM

The American College of Hyperbaric Medicine is a physician-led professional organization advancing safe, evidence-based hyperbaric medicine through education, professional development, clinical leadership, safety, and collaboration.

The ACHM website provides information concerning the organization, membership, education, Fellowship, professional recognition, facility accreditation, organizational news, and related professional resources.

Professional and Educational Information

Information provided on ACHM.org is intended primarily for professional, educational, and informational purposes.

Website content should not be interpreted as individualized medical advice, diagnosis, treatment recommendations, or a substitute for the professional judgment of a qualified healthcare provider.

Clinical decisions should be made by appropriately qualified healthcare professionals based on the circumstances of the individual patient, applicable professional standards, institutional policies, and current scientific evidence.

ACHM does not establish a physician-patient relationship or other healthcare-provider relationship through use of this website.

No Patient-Specific Medical Advice

ACHM does not provide individual diagnosis or treatment through its general website.

Visitors should not submit patient records, protected health information, medical histories, or other confidential patient information through general contact forms, email addresses, member forums, or other website features unless ACHM has specifically directed that such information be provided through an approved secure process.

Individuals seeking medical advice or treatment should consult an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.

Educational Programs and ACHM Course Approval

ACHM may identify educational programs that have completed its applicable course-approval process.

An ACHM-approved course is generally developed and delivered by an independent education provider unless expressly identified otherwise.

ACHM approval does not mean that ACHM:

  • operates or administers the course;
  • establishes the provider’s pricing;
  • manages enrollment or scheduling;
  • guarantees course availability;
  • guarantees continuing-education credit for every participant or jurisdiction; or
  • guarantees that completion satisfies every employer, credentialing body, licensing board, hospital, insurer, or regulatory requirement.

Users are responsible for confirming course details, continuing-education eligibility, professional requirements, pricing, scheduling, and enrollment directly with the applicable education provider.

Independent Education Providers and Other Third Parties

ACHM.org may provide links to independent education providers, professional organizations, industry organizations, conference providers, publications, or other third-party websites.

These organizations operate independently from ACHM unless expressly stated otherwise.

ACHM is not responsible for the availability, content, security, privacy practices, pricing, representations, products, services, or actions of third-party websites or organizations.

A link from ACHM.org does not necessarily constitute an endorsement of every product, service, statement, or activity offered by the third party.

Membership

Eligibility, benefits, dues, and other requirements for ACHM membership are governed by ACHM’s current membership policies.

Membership categories, benefits, dues, renewal procedures, and eligibility requirements may be updated periodically.

Payment of membership dues does not guarantee eligibility if an applicant does not meet the applicable membership requirements.

Current ACHM memberships are annual and require renewal in accordance with ACHM’s current membership procedures.

Fellowship in ACHM

Fellowship in the American College of Hyperbaric Medicine is a professional distinction governed by ACHM’s current Fellowship eligibility and election requirements.

Submission of an application or application fee does not guarantee election to Fellowship.

Applications are subject to documentation review and the applicable ACHM review and election process.

Applicants are responsible for providing accurate, complete, and current information.

The current Fellowship application fee is $150 and is non-refundable.

Physicians elected to Fellowship may use the FACHM designation in accordance with ACHM requirements.

Fellowship should not be represented as medical board certification, professional licensure, or completion of a training program.

Clinical Hyperbaric Safety CAQ / Facility Accreditation

The Clinical Hyperbaric Safety Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) is an ACHM facility-level accreditation program.

Facilities applying for recognition are responsible for accurately and completely providing requested information and supporting documentation.

Submission of an application or payment does not guarantee accreditation.

Accreditation decisions are made through ACHM’s applicable review and evaluation processes.

Clinical Hyperbaric Safety CAQ recognition should not be represented as an individual professional certification, guarantee of clinical outcomes, governmental approval, payer approval, insurance authorization, or guarantee of regulatory compliance.

Facilities remain responsible for compliance with applicable laws, regulations, professional requirements, safety standards, institutional policies, and other requirements applicable to their operations.

Applications and Professional Information

Users submitting membership, Fellowship, accreditation, course-approval, award, or other professional applications agree that the information provided is accurate and complete to the best of their knowledge.

ACHM may request supporting documentation or additional information when reasonably necessary to evaluate eligibility or administer a program.

Providing false, misleading, incomplete, or materially inaccurate information may result in rejection, revocation of recognition, termination of membership, or other action permitted under ACHM policies.

Payments

ACHM may collect fees for membership, Fellowship applications, facility accreditation, events, education-related activities, or other organizational programs.

Online payments may be processed by Stripe or another authorized payment-service provider.

ACHM does not guarantee that every fee is refundable. Refund eligibility is determined by the policies applicable to the specific program, application, membership, event, or transaction.

Where a fee is identified as non-refundable, submission of payment constitutes acknowledgement of that condition.

Accounts and Member Areas

Some areas of ACHM.org may require membership, registration, or an authorized account.

Users are responsible for:

  • maintaining the confidentiality of account credentials;
  • providing accurate account information;
  • preventing unauthorized use of their accounts; and
  • promptly notifying ACHM of suspected unauthorized access.

Users may not share account credentials in a manner that circumvents membership, licensing, or access restrictions.

ACHM may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect the website, other users, ACHM resources, or the integrity of its programs.

Member Forums and Community Features

ACHM may provide members-only forums, discussion areas, or other professional community features.

Users are responsible for the content they submit.

Users may not post content that:

  • contains patient-identifying or confidential healthcare information;
  • violates applicable law;
  • infringes another party’s intellectual-property rights;
  • is defamatory, threatening, harassing, discriminatory, or abusive;
  • contains unauthorized commercial solicitation or spam;
  • contains malicious code or attempts to compromise website security; or
  • misrepresents professional qualifications, credentials, or affiliations.

ACHM may moderate, remove, restrict, or preserve content when reasonably necessary to administer these services or enforce applicable rules.

Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise indicated, the content of ACHM.org—including text, graphics, logos, design elements, educational materials, publications, documents, photographs, videos, and other materials—is owned by ACHM or used with permission and may be protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual-property laws.

Visitors may access website content for lawful personal, professional, and educational use.

No content may be reproduced, republished, distributed, modified, sold, licensed, or used commercially without appropriate authorization from ACHM or the applicable rights holder, except as permitted by law.

ACHM Name, Logo, Credentials, and Recognition

Use of the ACHM name, logo, FACHM designation, Safety CAQ recognition, award names, accreditation marks, or other ACHM identifiers must comply with ACHM’s applicable policies.

Users may not imply ACHM endorsement, membership, Fellowship, accreditation, certification, affiliation, or approval when such status has not been formally granted or is no longer valid.

User-Submitted Materials

When you voluntarily submit content to ACHM for publication or organizational use—including photographs, testimonials, articles, comments, professional biographies, or other materials—you represent that you have the right to provide those materials.

Any broader right granted to ACHM to publish, reproduce, or distribute submitted materials should be governed by the applicable submission agreement, release, program terms, or other written authorization.

Website Availability and Security

ACHM works to maintain the availability and security of its website but does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access.

Website availability may occasionally be affected by maintenance, software updates, hosting issues, security incidents, third-party services, technical failures, or circumstances beyond ACHM’s reasonable control.

Users may not attempt to gain unauthorized access to the website, interfere with its operation, introduce malicious software, scrape restricted content, circumvent access controls, or use the site in a manner that could damage ACHM or other users.

Accuracy and Updates

ACHM seeks to provide accurate and useful information, but hyperbaric medicine, professional standards, educational requirements, program criteria, and organizational policies may evolve.

ACHM may update website content periodically.

Users should verify current requirements directly with ACHM or the applicable authority before relying on website information for professional, regulatory, licensing, credentialing, accreditation, or other significant decisions.

Disclaimer of Warranties

To the extent permitted by applicable law, ACHM.org and its content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

ACHM makes no guarantee that website content will always be complete, current, uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for every professional or organizational purpose.

Nothing on ACHM.org constitutes a guarantee of a clinical, educational, professional, financial, accreditation, licensing, regulatory, or patient outcome.

Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, ACHM and its officers, directors, employees, committee members, representatives, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from or relating to use of the website or reliance on its content.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Indemnification

To the extent permitted by applicable law, users agree to be responsible for claims, losses, liabilities, or expenses arising from their unlawful misuse of the website, violation of these Terms, infringement of another party’s rights, or unauthorized use of ACHM materials, credentials, or recognition.

Attorney review recommended: I would specifically have ACHM’s counsel review this indemnification provision before launch.

Privacy

Use of ACHM.org is also subject to the ACHM Privacy Policy, which explains how ACHM collects, uses, protects, and discloses personal information.

Changes to These Terms

ACHM may update these Terms of Use periodically to reflect changes in its website, programs, policies, technology, or applicable law.

The effective date at the top of this page will be revised when the Terms are updated.

Continued use of ACHM.org following an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Governing Law

These Terms will be governed by the laws of STATE OF WISCONSIN, without regard to applicable conflict-of-law principles.

Any venue or dispute-resolution language should be determined in consultation with ACHM’s legal counsel.
