The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has contracted with Yale New Haven Health Services Corporation – Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE) to develop four hospital-level electronic clinical quality measures (eCQMs) on dimensions of patient harm or adverse patient safety events that can be improved with high quality care. We are inviting your comments on the proposed measures. The specific measures in development are:
· Hospital Harm – Hypoglycemia
· Hospital Harm – Opioid-Related Adverse Events
· Hospital Harm – Hospital-Acquired Pressure Injury
· Hospital Harm – Acute Kidney Injury
CMS is now inviting stakeholders and other interested members of the public to review and comment on the measures under development. Due to the level of interest, we are extending the deadline for comments to 11:59 PM on March 2, 2018. This comment period provides an opportunity for the widest array of interested parties to provide input on the new hospital harm performance measures, and can prompt critical suggestions not previously considered by the measure developer. This email serves as the call for public comment on these measures.
For information on the measure specifications and instructions for how to submit comments for each measure, we invite stakeholders to visit: https://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Quality-Initiatives-Patient-Assessment-Instruments/MMS/PC-Currently-Accepting-Comments.html.
The website JIRA comment tool will be used to collect comments: https://oncprojectracking.healthit.gov/support/secure/Dashboard.jspa. Please see the CMS website above for measure-specific questions and instructions on how to submit feedback. Please submit your comments via the website JIRA comment tool by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on March 2, 2018. Please note that at the end of the public comment period, all comments will be posted on the CMS website. If you have any questions, please contact email@example.com.
Please circulate this email to any colleagues you feel would be interested in commenting on these measures. Thank you!
