Several months ago we lost a member of the College to cancer. Dr. William A. Zamboni, died on Saturday, July 11, 2015, he was 56. Dr. Zamboni was a gifted and talented plastic surgeon and the Chairman of the Department of Surgery for the University of Nevada School of Medicine. Dr. Zamboni was also a passionate hyperbaric advocate. His original research was monumental in initiating our understanding of the use of hyperbaric oxygen as it relates to ischemia reperfusion injury. Dr. Zamboni was an avid skier and attended many Winter Hyperbaric Symposiums where he often presented his cutting edge research. His presentations stimulated robust discussions about clinical hyperbaric medicine in the mornings, followed by wonderful skiing of the slopes of Colorado in the afternoon and of course the fellowship of sharing a beer or two at the Après Ski in the evening. His significant impact on the field of Hyperbaric Medicine will never be forgotten. In recognition of his contributions to the field of hyperbaric medicine, Dr. Zamboni is post posthumously awarded Eric P. Kindwall Award of Excellence in Clinical Hyperbaric Medicine.
